ECOCERT
ECOCERT is one of the most recognized certifiers worldwide, since it has its own standard, with which it is possible to certify organic and natural. Its main objective is to recognize the work of cosmetic manufacturers that are respectful with the environment, and ensure better transparency about the composition of the final product for the consumer.
ECOCERT también permite certificar bajo el estándar Cosmos. An international standard, which is used by a growing number of certifiers, where its main objectives are:
- Defining a high level of quality, which guarantees true recovery of substances of natural and ecological origin, and respecting the environment throughout the production chain until it reaches the consumer.
- Establish a direct relationship between some cosmetic products and organic farming.
- Absence of genetically modified organisms in cosmetic products.
The Cosmos standard allows certifying natural and organic products:
For a product to be certified Cosmos Organic, it must have 95% of all plant-based ingredients in the formula and 20% of all ingredients by weight (10% in rinse-off products) must come from organic farming.
And for the Cosmos Natural certification, the product must contain raw materials of natural origin and contain or not ingredients from organic farming.
BIOINSPECTA
BioVidaSana / bio.inspecta
This certification entity is based in Switzerland and certifies ecological and sustainable productions, including cosmetic products that follow the BioVidaSana standard. The Vida Sana Association’s main objectives are to promote responsible consumption and produce products that are respectful of the environment. The certification responds to 3 categories:
- Category I: Organic cosmetic.
- Category II: Natural cosmetic product with X% organic ingredients.
- Category III: Natural Cosmetic Product.
In addition, they have the ECOPlus recognition, for companies that manufacture all their certified products and that more than 80% of their products belong to category I.
CAAE
CAAE is an entity specialized in organic production. In the area of cosmetics, it is possible to certify under the CAAE vegan standard, and from 2021 under the Cosmos Natural and Cosmos Organic standard.
CAAE Vegan
It is its own standard, which assures the consumer that all the ingredients of a cosmetic are of vegetable or mineral origin, that they do not come from genetically modified organisms and that they do not contain nanoparticles.
CAAE Cosmos Natural and Cosmos Organic
The main objectives under this standard is the promotion of the use of products from organic agriculture and the incentive of respect for the ecosystem, not only considering the raw material but also the packaging.
